Role & responsibilities
- Perform Phacoemulsification cataract surgeries independently with foldable IOL implantation.
- Conduct pre-operative evaluation including biometry, keratometry, IOL power calculation, and systemic fitness assessment.
- Manage SICS/ECCE cases where required.
- Diagnose and manage cataract-related complications.
- Provide comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation including refraction, slit lamp examination, and fundus evaluation.
- Manage post-operative follow-up, complications, and visual rehabilitation.
- Ensure adherence to aseptic OT protocols and NABH standards.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and EMR records as per medico-legal guidelines.
- Counsel patients and attendants regarding surgical procedures, outcomes, and risks.
- Collaborate with Medical Retina and Glaucoma specialists for referral cases.
- Participate in outreach screening camps and cataract awareness programs.
- Contribute to surgical volume targets while maintaining high-quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Train junior doctors/optometrists where applicable (for teaching setups).
Preferred candidate profile
- MS/MD/DNB Ophthalmology (Mandatory)
- Fellowship in Phacoemulsification / Anterior Segment (Preferred)
- Proficiency in Phacoemulsification with foldable IOL
- Experience in premium IOLs (Multifocal / Toric added advantage)
- Ability to manage intra-operative complications
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
