Role & responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage conditions related to:
  • Eyelids: ptosis, entropion, ectropion, chalazion, eyelid tumors, trauma
  • Orbit: fractures, inflammations, thyroid eye disease, tumors
  • Lacrimal system: congenital & acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction, DCR surgeries
  • Facial aesthetics: Botox, fillers, scar revision, chemical peels
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments & investigations
  • Perform reconstructive and cosmetic oculoplastic surgeries
  • Provide post-operative care, follow-ups, and complication management

Surgical Responsibilities

  • Eyelid surgeries: blepharoplasty, ptosis correction, lid reconstruction
  • Lacrimal surgeries: external/endoscopic DCR, probing, intubation
  • Orbital surgeries: decompressions, tumor excisions, fracture repairs
  • Facial aesthetic procedures: Botox, fillers, minor cosmetic interventions
  • Management of pediatric oculoplasty cases (congenital anomalies)

Patient Care & Counselling

  • Explain diagnosis, treatment options & surgical risks
  • Provide pre/post-surgery guidance and rehabilitation support
  • Work with ocularists for prosthetic eye rehabilitation

Administrative & Training Responsibilities

  • Maintain medical records & surgical documentation
  • Participate in hospital quality improvement and audits
  • Train junior doctors, fellows, and optometrists
  • Contribute to research, publications & CME activities
